Amazon Prime Video Lands NBA Streaming Deal, Canada Included

Amazon Prime Video and the NBA have announced an 11-year media rights agreement starting with the 2025-26 NBA season.
Prime Video will exclusively stream 66 regular-season NBA games annually, including the Emirates NBA Cup and the NBA Playoffs. The deal also includes exclusive streaming of WNBA games beginning in 2026.
Prime Video will feature an opening-week doubleheader, a new Black Friday NBA game, and all games from the Knockout Rounds of the Emirates NBA Cup. The service will also provide coverage of the postseason SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament, first- and second-round playoff games, and Conference Finals for six of the 11 years.
“The digital opportunities with Amazon align perfectly with the global interest in the NBA,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Prime Video will distribute its game package in the U.S. and internationally, but Canada will be starting later in the 2026-27 season.
Prime Video will also be the global channels store destination for NBA and WNBA League Pass, the subscription service for streaming live and on-demand games.
Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, said, “NBA and WNBA basketball will serve as yet another cornerstone of the robust sports business our Prime Video team has built in just the last six years.”
Now, this Prime Video and Amazon deal means TNT Sports lost out on bidding, meaning the iconic show Inside the NBA will see its last year for the upcoming season. TNT released a statement yesterday saying they matched the Amazon offer, saying the NBA has “grossly misinterpreted our contractual rights with respect to the 2025-26 season and beyond, and we will take appropriate action,” suggesting a legal fight might ensue. Grab your popcorn, folks.
