Google has unveiled its new Pixel 9 series, featuring the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. All models are powered by the new Google Tensor G4 chip, enhancing AI capabilities, camera performance, and overall efficiency. These new phones actually look pretty decent, even with the wide camera bar on the back.

The Pixel 9 with its 6.3-inch Actua display (now 35% brighter) feature a sleek design, with the Pro models offering two size options: 6.3 inches for the Pixel 9 Pro and 6.8 inches for the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The Super Actua displays are brighter and more durable than previous models, and the new 42MP front camera aims to bring better selfies, even in low light.

The Pixel 9 has same main and ultra wide cameras as the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. So that means a jump from 12MP (Pixel 8) to 48MP for Pixel 9. Google also says Pixel 9 phones are “twice as durable” as Pixel 8.

Pixel 9 starts at $1099 in Canada, Pixel 9 Pro starts at $1349, while Pixel 9 Pro XL starts at $1499. It seems we’ve reached iPhone territory with Pixel device pricing. But if you can wait, you can bet promos will come during Black Friday or even six months from now.

The Tensor G4 chip, developed with Google DeepMind, powers advanced AI features like Gemini Live, which allows for natural conversations with the AI assistant. The Pixel 9 series also includes Pixel Studio, an image generator, and Pixel Screenshots, an app to organize and recall screenshots.

Camera upgrades include a 48MP ultrawide lens, improved low-light panorama, and enhanced video capabilities with Video Boost. The phones also feature Satellite SOS for emergency communication without cellular service.

The Pixel 9 series offers 7 years of software and security updates.

As for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, we now have Google’s foldable smartphone in Canada. Google says this is its thinnest foldable phone yet, featuring the largest inner display ever seen on a mobile device.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold features a fluid-friction hinge that opens flat with a snap, revealing a bright Super Actua Flex display that’s 80% brighter than its predecessor. The phone is protected by scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and is water-resistant up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

Google can't get that camera bump to integrate in any way with the phone….hard as they try. Cue in the memes.
Also….2600$+tax for that foldable? I fold.

I really like how you're so gullible and easily manipulated, especially by the most useless AI developed to date It's even worse than Bing's Co-Pilot's bastardized version of ChatGPT. 🤦‍♂️

Blatant ad by iPhone in Canada, no analysis, no research, and no investigation — terrible product. It should be moved to the "deals" section although it's not a deal. But this blog has no place in the "news" section.
