Snapchat Finally Gets Native iPad Support After 13 Years
After 13 years of being exclusively available on iPhones, Snapchat has finally expanded its reach to include native support for iPad users (via 9to5Mac).

The popular social media app, which first launched on iOS in 2011, has long been a staple for iPhone users, but iPad owners have had to make do with a subpar experience.
Until now, running Snapchat on an iPad meant dealing with the iPhone version of the app, complete with large black borders that limited the screen’s usability. This all changes with the latest update, as Snapchat now offers full-screen, native iPad support.
With this update, Snapchat has optimized its app for iPadOS, allowing users to experience the app in full-screen mode. The company notes that it’s “still the same Snapchat you know and love,” but now with the added benefit of a larger display.
However, while the introduction of native iPad support is a significant milestone, there are still some limitations. As of now, Snapchat only functions in portrait mode on the iPad. The app does not yet support landscape mode, which may be a drawback for users who prefer to use their tablets horizontally.
This update is part of a broader effort by Snapchat to enhance its user experience through new features and improvements. Earlier this year, the app introduced several AI-based tools, further expanding its functionality.
One notable addition is the “My AI” feature, which allows users to engage in direct chats with an AI-powered assistant. This feature can be used to set reminders, start countdowns, and even create Bitmoji avatars.

For years, iPad users have called for an optimized version of the app, and the wait is finally over. The new update promises a more immersive experience for those using Apple’s tablet, even if it isn’t yet fully optimized for all iPad features.
For iPad users eager to try out the new full-screen Snapchat experience, the app is available for free on the App Store. It’s important to note that the app requires a device running iOS 13 or later to function properly.

And yet we still don’t have a native Instagram app for iPad. 🙄
