Google Meet Introduces AI-Powered “Take Notes for Me” Feature
Google is enhancing its Meet platform with a new feature called “Take Notes for Me,” which leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically generate meeting notes.

The new tool is designed to improve productivity during virtual meetings by allowing participants to focus on discussions without the distraction of manual note-taking. By automating the note-taking process, this AI-powered tool captures meeting details in real-time, creating a comprehensive record of the conversation.
During meetings, users can activate the feature, which will automatically document key points in a Google Docs file. This document is then stored in the meeting owner’s Google Drive and attached to the associated calendar event, ensuring that all participants have easy access to the notes post-meeting.
Additionally, if someone joins the meeting late, the “Take Notes for Me” feature provides a “summary so far” to bring them up to speed, ensuring they don’t miss out on crucial information.
Once the meeting concludes, the system sends an email with a link to the notes document to the meeting organizer and any participants who enabled the feature. Moreover, if users also choose to record the meeting or use the transcription feature, these recordings will be linked within the notes document, creating a more comprehensive archive of the meeting.

Initially, “Take Notes for Me” will be accessible on desktop versions of Google Meet, with meetings required to be conducted in spoken English to utilize this feature.
The feature will begin rolling out on August 27, 2024, and will be available to select Google Workspace customers.
