How to Transform Existing Photos into Spatial Images Using Apple Vision Pro

In a recent YouTube support video, Apple has detailed how Apple Vision Pro running visionOS 2 automatically converts existing 2D photos into spatial photos, adding depth and dimension.

Create spatial photos on Apple Vision Pro

Spatial photos are a unique feature introduced with Apple Vision Pro that allows users to experience traditional 2D images in a more immersive and dynamic way.

By utilizing advanced machine learning algorithms within visionOS 2, the system automatically adds depth and dimensionality to flat images, transforming them into spatial photos that feel more lifelike.

With just a few simple steps, you’ll be able to convert your existing photos into stunning spatial images. Here’s what to do:

  1. Go to the Photos app on your Apple Vision Pro.
  2. Open a 2D photo (for example, a photo you captured on your iPhone), then tap the Spatial button at the top of the photo.
  3. The spatial photo you created is also visible in the Spatial tab. While viewing the created spatial photo, tap the Immersive button to immerse yourself in the photo.
  4. Tap the Spatial button to return to the 2D version of your photo.
  5. If you go back to the 2D version, that photo isn’t visible in the Spatial tab.
