How to Use Clean Up Tool in Photos on iPhone, iPad, or Mac [VIDEO]
Apple’s latest software updates—iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1—introduce the “Clean Up” feature in the Photos app, enabling users to quickly remove unwanted elements from their images.

This new tool leverages Apple Intelligence to enhance photo editing capabilities across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. By utilizing advanced algorithms, the feature intelligently identifies and removes selected elements, seamlessly blending the background to maintain the photo’s integrity.
Clean Up is available on the following devices:
- iPhone: iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPad: Devices equipped with A17 Pro or M1 and later processors
- Mac: Models with M1 or later processors
It’s important to note that Clean Up is accessible in most regions worldwide. However, for European Union residents, the feature may not function if both the device and Apple Account are registered within the EU.
Here’s how to use the Clean Up feature on your iPhone:
- Launch the Photos app and select the image you wish to edit.
- Tap the “Edit” button located at the top right corner of the screen.
- Tap the “Clean Up” icon. The app may automatically highlight potential distractions for quick removal.
- Tap, brush, or circle the objects you want to remove. Use two fingers to pinch and zoom or pan the image for precision.
- Once satisfied with the adjustments, tap “Done” to save the edited photo.
