Canada Post Delivers Again: Parcel Service Returns After Strike Chaos

Canada Post announced today it has restored on-time delivery guarantees for domestic packages starting January 6, 2025.
Normal processing and delivery levels have returned across the country, including rural and remote areas. This means the online orders you made back in mid-November may start arriving soon.
The Canada Post strike by postal workers lated from November 15 to December 17, which disrupted shipping ahead of Black Friday, the biggest economic opportunity of the year for entrepreneurs (Etsy sellers got hammered). Canada Post has lost over $3 billion since 2018 and continues to bleed money.
While operations have stabilized and holiday package backlogs have been cleared, delays are still expected for some types of mail. Canada Post says you can still expect several-day delays for letters, bills, and statements as older mail is processed alongside new items.
Business customers should also anticipate delays for promotional flyers and mailouts for neighbourhoods.
For international deliveries, Canada Post is working through huge volumes but says customers can expect delays of several days for incoming items.
During the Canada Post strike, businesses sought alternative arrangements and couriers for shipping. Major shippers like FedEx and UPS saw huge volumes of packaging being delivered.
Were you affected by last month’s Canada Post strike? By the way—stamp prices are increasing by 25% next week, so go buy them today before it’s too late.
