Google Gemini for iOS Update Brings iPhone Lock Screen Widgets
Google has rolled out a major update to its Gemini app for iPhone, introducing new lock screen widgets and enhanced Control Center integration.

As noted by 9to5Google, the latest version of the Gemini app introduces six circular lock screen widgets, each designed to facilitate specific tasks:
- Type Prompt: Allows users to quickly input any question or prompt directly from the lock screen.
- Talk Live: Enables real-time conversations or brainstorming sessions with Gemini without unlocking the device.
- Open Mic: Provides swift access to voice commands for setting reminders, creating calendar events, and more.
- Use Camera: Lets users capture photos and inquire about them through Gemini.
- Share Image: Allows selection of an existing image to obtain information, generate new art, or initiate a chat.
- Share File: Facilitates sharing of files to gain insights or inspiration related to the content.
These widgets are customizable and can be positioned as corner buttons on the lock screen or added to the Control Center
Previously, accessing Gemini Live required a two-step process. With the new update, users can launch Gemini Live directly from the lock screen or Control Center, making real-time interactions more seamless.
Beyond the lock screen widgets, the update brings several other enhancements:
- Share Extension: Users can now share text, images, and links directly to Gemini from any app, enhancing the app’s integration within the iOS ecosystem.
- Deep Research: Introduced in Gemini Advanced, this feature allows for more in-depth analysis and information retrieval, catering to users seeking comprehensive insights.
- User Interface Improvements: The update includes various UI enhancements and bug fixes, contributing to a smoother and more intuitive user experience.

The updated Gemini app is now available for download on the App Store. Simply update the app to the latest version to take advantage of the new features.
