Building Memories: LEGO Makes March Break Fun for the Family

Lego march break fun 2.

Looking for a fun and creative way to spend quality time with your family over Spring Break? Building LEGO sets together is the perfect activity to spark imagination, teamwork, and plenty of laughs. LEGO sent us some of their newest LEGO City sets to check out, and we had a blast as a family putting them together. From assembling fire trucks and rescue boats to racing Ferrari cars and setting up camper vans, it was again a fun way to bond and create memories.

We also had the chance to chat with Gene Fong, Head of Marketing at LEGO Canada, about how LEGO encourages creative play during March Break and what exciting experiences families can look forward to.

“March Break is all about bringing families together through play,” said Fong. “Whether it’s building dinosaurs or imagining space adventures, LEGO sets offer more than fun. They create opportunities for families to connect, share experiences, and inspire creativity.”

New releases are sparking plenty of excitement. “The LEGO Classic Creative Dinosaurs and LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Panda Family have been big hits,” Fong shared. “We’re also seeing a lot of interest in action-packed sets like the LEGO City Helicopter, Fire Truck & Submarine Remix, and the gaming-inspired LEGO DREAMZzz Cooper’s Gaming Controller Jet. These sets offer hands-on fun that keeps kids engaged over the break.”

When it comes to learning and creativity, LEGO sets are designed to inspire. “Kids can follow instructions or dive into imaginative play by creating their own designs,” Fong said. “We’re also hosting in-store events like the LEGO Steering Wheel Make and Take on March 9. And for those in Toronto, CF Sherway Gardens will feature a life-sized LEGO Technic McLaren P1 from March 8-23, with a Make and Take activity from March 10-14.”

Fong also noted how family play is evolving. “We’re seeing more collaborative building, where families work together to bring their ideas to life. There’s also a rise in STEM-focused sets that encourage problem-solving and creativity. Plus, the LEGO Builder app’s ‘Build Together’ feature makes it easy for families to collaborate digitally, guiding each person through their part of the build.”

So this Spring Break, why not gather the family, pick a LEGO set, and build something amazing together? Whether you’re crafting a camper van, racing Ferrari cars, or rescuing campers with a fire truck, LEGO building is a fantastic way to bond, laugh, and make memories that will last long after the last brick is in place. Here’s a closer look at the sets we built over the past week or so.
