Google’s New AI Search Mode May Replace ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’
Google is testing a new AI Mode in its search interface, aiming to provide AI-generated responses and potentially replacing the ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ button, according to CNBC News.

The AI Mode, currently available to a limited number of users in the U.S. through Google’s Search Labs, leverages the company’s advanced Gemini 2.0 model. This model enhances the system’s reasoning capabilities and supports multimodal inputs, including text, images, and voice.
Google’s AI Mode allows users to input complex, multi-part queries and receive comprehensive, AI-generated responses, aiming to provide more direct and efficient answers compared to traditional search methods.
This development follows the expansion of Google’s AI Overviews feature, which provides AI-generated summaries of search results. Since its initial launch in May 2023, AI Overviews have been rolled out to over 100 countries, reaching more than 1 billion users monthly. The feature is designed to help users find information more quickly by summarizing relevant content from multiple sources.
The introduction of AI Mode and the expansion of AI Overviews are part of Google’s ongoing efforts to integrate advanced AI technologies into its services. These initiatives aim to provide users with more intuitive and efficient search experiences.

As Google continues to test and refine these features, the company emphasizes that AI Mode is one of many ongoing experiments and not a finalized change. The potential replacement of long-standing features like “I’m Feeling Lucky” may signal a significant shift in how users interact with the search engine.
