Apple has announced that its ‘Tap to Pay on iPhone’ feature is expanding to eight new European countries. Across Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Greece, Iceland, Luxembourg, and Malta, millions of merchants can begin fulfilling contactless transactions in person using an iPhone.
Starting today, Tap to Pay on iPhone is available in a variety of new countries. Per a press release from the company, the payment feature is now accessible within the following countries, supporting these payment platforms:

For the uninitiated, Tap to Pay on iPhone allows merchants and business owners to accept contactless payments in person using an iPhone and a partner-enabled iOS app. This means businesses no longer have to have third-party machines or payment terminals to conduct business and accept payment.
Tap to Pay is currently available on iPhone XS or later running the latest version of iOS. When checking a customer out during a transaction, businesses can accept payment via contactless credit or debit card, iPhone, Apple Watch, or other digital wallet. Payment is then completed using NFC technology. All transactions made using Tap to Pay on iPhone are encrypted and processed using the Secure Element. This ensures Apple does not receive information regarding what is purchased.
The feature was first released in 2022, when Tap to Pay on iPhone launched in the U.S. In 2024, Apple launched Tap to Pay in Canada. The feature supports Adyen, Moneris, Stripe, and Square in the country.
