Sonos Ace Headphones Get Major Update: What’s New

Sonos is giving its Ace headphones a serious boost, rolling out a free software update that adds surround sound, shared TV audio, smarter noise cancelling, and better call quality.
The biggest change is a new feature called TrueCinema. It’s designed to make your headphones sound like a full surround system by mapping the acoustics of your room and simulating a 3D audio environment.
Sonos has also improved its TV Audio Swap feature. Previously, only one person could wirelessly stream TV sound from a Sonos soundbar to their Ace headphones. Now, two people can listen at once — each using their own headphones, hearing everything in sync.
The update also improves Active Noise Cancellation. The new system adjusts in real time based on how you’re wearing the headphones — whether you have glasses, a hat, or long hair, the Ace can now automatically compensate for any sound leaks.
And for people who use their headphones to take calls, conversations should feel more natural thanks to enhanced mic quality and a feature called SideTone, which lets you hear a bit of your own voice while talking, so it doesn’t feel like you’re shouting into a void. HD voice is here (32 kHz) as well.
“Sonos Ace was intentionally designed to deliver lasting value in both form and function. With premium materials, a timeless design that resists trend-driven obsolescence, and a platform built for powerful software updates, it embodies a smarter, more sustainable approach to product development. And importantly, it keeps devices in use and out of landfills,” said Dana Krieger, VP Design at Sonos, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.
The software update is available starting today and will roll out globally to all Sonos Ace users. The Sonos Aces are on sale for $449 right now on Amazon, saving you $150 off.
