Netflix to Start Streaming Live TV Channels in France
Netflix and TF1 Group have announced a new partnership that will integrate live TF1 channels and TF1+ on-demand content directly within the Netflix app for French subscribers, starting summer 2026.

This marks Netflix’s first venture into hosting third-party broadcast TV within its platform, aligning with evolving viewer preferences and local content requirements.
French Netflix users will gain full access to TF1 Group’s five terrestrial channels and a selection of popular TF1+ shows—all included in their current subscription with no extra fees. Live sports, top-tier French dramas such as Broceliande and Erica, daily soap operas like Demain nous appartient, variety hits like The Voice, and even Koh Lanta are part of the offering. The TF1 content library will also feature over 30,000 hours of on-demand programming.
According to Nielsen, streaming platforms collectively surpassed traditional TV broadcasts in U.S. market share for the first time in May 2025, signaling a decisive shift in global media consumption.
Netflix’s move to integrate TF1’s live channels is its most significant step yet into linear broadcasting, giving it a competitive edge as viewers migrate from TDT (terrestrial digital television) to streaming. While financial terms of the partnership remain undisclosed, Netflix stock saw a 0.7% bump in response to the deal following the announcement.
Both companies indicated this could serve as a blueprint for similar arrangements in other markets—especially as broadcasting networks grapple with declining traditional viewership.

Set to go live in summer 2026, this collaboration will be closely watched across Europe as a potential turning point in streaming and broadcast consolidation.
