Ultra-Thin Honor Magic V5 Challenges Samsung’s Z Fold 7
Honor has unveiled its latest attempt to challenge Samsung and Apple with the launch of its new Magic V5 foldable smartphone, offering record breaking slim profile and flagship specs at a price well below top rivals (via Nikkei Asia).

The Magic V5 claims a world record for slimmest foldable phone when the Ivory White version is folded measuring just 8.8mm. When unfolded it remains impressively thin at around 4.1mm. It weighs only 217g making it not only sleek, but also lighter than many of its competitors.
Under the hood, users will find a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor supported by up to 16GB of RAM and a spacious battery that ranges up to 6,100 mAh in the China model and around 5,820 mAh elsewhere. This silicon carbon battery brings higher energy density and ensures the device stays powered through heavy use.
The screen experience does not disappoint. The inner display spans nearly 8-incheswith bright LTPO OLED technology and a fluid refresh rate of 120Hz. The exterior display also embraces the same technology offering stylus support on both screens improving the productivity possibilities. Adding to its durability the phone benefits from dust and water resistance with IP58 and IP59 ratings.
Camera capabilities include a triple lens system featuring 50MP main and ultrawide shooters along with a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. These specs suggest that Honor is serious about not just competing on form factor but offering strong imaging performance.

Honor appears to have strategically timed the release to come just before Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 7 becomes widely available giving users an alternative that blends style and substance.
Available now in China, the Magic V5 is rolling out to Europe and the UK where pricing starts at around £1699 or nearly 2,000 euros.
