Apple Officially Declares the Last 11-Inch MacBook Air Obsolete
Apple has formally declared the final 11-inch MacBook Air model officially obsolete, marking the end of support for a device that captured the hearts of those seeking ultraportable computing (via 9to5Mac).

The designation comes nearly 9 years since the smallest MacBook Air was pulled from Apple’s lineup and signals that hardware service and repairs will no longer be offered through official channels.
This milestone also includes two MacBook Pro models from 2017 being added to Apple’s obsolete list. The models affected are the 13-inch MacBook Pro with four Thunderbolt 3 ports and the 15-inch MacBook Pro.
Under Apple’s policy, a product becomes obsolete once it has remained unavailable for sale for more than 7 years. At that point, Apple Stores and authorized repair partners cease servicing the device, although some battery replacement may still be offered up to a decade after distribution ended if parts remain available.
The 11-inch MacBook Air holds a special place in Apple history for its distinctive compact design and broad appeal. First launched in 2010, this model was cherished by students, travelers, and first-time Mac buyers who prized its lightweight build and approachable price point.
Apple discontinued it in 2016, shortly after introducing the Touch Bar MacBook Pro, although grey-market availability continued in some stores until about 2018.

The modern MacBook Air family includes 13- and 15-inch models powered by the M4 chip, offering enhanced performance, extended battery life, and support for multiple external displays.
