Apple to Release iOS 18.7 for Older iPhones Before iOS 26
Apple is gearing up to release iOS 18.7 as a final tune-up for older iPhones in September ahead of its next major operating system launch, as noted by MacRumors.

This update will be rolled out for models that will not support iOS 26, and is expected to focus on fixing security vulnerabilities and ironing out lingering glitches rather than introducing new features.
Notably the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR will likely receive iOS 18.7 as their last official software update since they do not meet system requirements for iOS 26. This reflects Apple’s ongoing strategy of extending support for older devices as long as possible.
Meanwhile, iOS 26 is nearing its debut. After extensive beta testing, Apple is expected to make this major update available to users during mid-September. The release will likely coincide with Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event on September 9 where new iPhone models are also anticipated.
iOS 26 brings a dramatic redesign and fresh features. The new Liquid Glass interface introduces translucent visuals with a sense of depth and movement echoing early versions of iOS, while lock and home screens gain dynamic elements and improved layout flexibility. It will also usher in advanced security, AI enhancements, and new user interface features on supported devices.

That means while iOS 18.7 plays a crucial role in keeping older iPhones safe and functional, users with newer phones will soon enjoy a bold leap in user experience under iOS 26.
