Meta Rolls Out AI Translation and Dubbing for Reels
Meta is bringing a big update to how users watch content across its platforms by introducing AI translation and dubbing for Reels on Facebook and Instagram.

The new features enable users to enjoy Reels from around the world, transformed into a language they understand, while keeping the creator’s original tone and expression.
Previously Meta had enabled bidirectional translation between English and Spanish for Reels. Now it is adding support for Hindi and Portuguese, widening the reach into two of its biggest markets. Creators in regions where Meta AI is available can now translate and dub their Reels into these languages at no cost.
The goal behind this update is to break language barriers. Meta says many creators asked for easier ways to reach audiences beyond their native tongue. With these new tools, creators can translate the audio of their Reels so it sounds like them, preserving voice inflections, or opt for lip syncing so the translated audio aligns with mouth movements in the video.
Users will have control over their viewing experience. Every translated Reel carries a label “Translated with Meta AI” so viewers know what they are watching. They can also decide whether to see the translation or access the original version of the content.
To access these translation features, creators on Facebook need at least 1,000 followers. On Instagram the tools are available for all public accounts in countries where Meta AI is supported. The translation feature is free to use.

This launch is part of Meta’s broader mission to make more global content accessible and to help creators expand their reach across linguistic borders. The expansion into Hindi and Portuguese is significant given the large user bases that speak those languages, and it signals Meta’s push to localize content worldwide.
Meta says even more language support is planned.
