Facebook Introducing ‘Local Jobs’ Features in the US, Highlighting Entry-Level Positions

Meta is reintroducing job listings to Facebook. The company is bringing a new jobs feature in the US, helping young adults find more information about entry-level positions within their community.
Job listings will now be posted in a dedicated space within the Facebook Marketplace section of the app. Here, users can browse relevant local job opportunities. If one feels like a match, the user can apply for it directly through the Marketplace tab.
As the company emphasizes in its blog post, most of the jobs listed will be entry-level, trade, and service industry employment opportunities within the local community. Facebook has a policy of which job types aren’t allowed to be posted. This includes positions related to drug products, adult services or multi-level marketing, for instance.
Facebook isn’t attempting to compete with Indeed or ZipRecruiter. The company is instead aiming to “help you connect with local people and small businesses who are hiring.”Job posts may also appear in certain local and career-focused Facebook Groups. You’ll be able to filter and sort jobs by category, distance, and job type in order to find the best match for your skills and interests.
Local businesses are able to post jobs directly to their Facebook pages as well. As a local business, managers can reach out to prospective employees to schedule interviews or answer questions. As job posts will be listed within a business’ page, users can discover more information about the potential employer before an interview.
As an employer, you can create a job listing on Facebook through Marketplace, Your Page, or the Meta Business Suite.
As of now, jobs on Facebook are only being made available within the US. There’s no telling if or when the service will make its way to Facebook in Canada.
