Apple Just Revealed How Big Its Services Empire Has Become

Apple says 2025 was its biggest year yet for services, with more users, higher engagement, and strong growth across products like the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Pay.
The App Store averaged more than 850 million weekly users during the year, spanning 175 countries and regions. Apple says storefronts in the U.S., Japan, India, and China all saw record traffic, helped by higher trust and repeat usage. The company also noted a surge in activity during the holiday season, with a record number of visitors and spending between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. Productivity apps, photo and video apps, and education apps were among the most popular downloads.
Apple also highlighted how much money developers are making on its platform. Since the App Store launched in 2008, developers have earned more than $550 billion. In 2024 alone, Apple says the App Store ecosystem handled $1.3 trillion in billings and sales, with more than 90 percent of that going directly to developers and no commission paid to Apple.

Other Apple services also hit new milestones in 2025. Apple Pay generated more than $100 billion in additional merchant sales worldwide while preventing over $1 billion in fraud. Apple TV set a new monthly viewing record in December, with total hours watched up 36 percent compared to the previous year. Apple Music also reached all-time highs for listening and new subscribers.
“2025 was a record-breaking year for Apple services, marked by remarkable growth, global expansion, and continuous innovation. From Apple TV, Apple Music, and Apple News, to daily essentials like Apple Pay and iCloud, we delivered enriching experiences to users worldwide,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services, in a statement on Monday.
Apple’s Canada-specific updates were mostly focused on Apple News and bundled services. Apple News remains the No. 1 news app in Canada, with access to local newspapers and regional news feeds, plus added features like the Emoji Game and Apple News+ Food, which includes recipes from Canadian publications.
For many Apple customers, once you’re in the services ecosystem, it’s hard to leave. That’s especially true for families using Apple One Premier for extra iCloud storage and bundled discounts, even if some of those services barely get used. It’s steady, recurring revenue for Apple, and the latest numbers show that services business keeps growing year after year.
