Jeff Pu Leaks Full iPhone Fold Tech Specs

According to supply chain analyst Jeff Pu’s latest investor note, the “iPhone Fold” is finally on track for a September 2026 release, arriving alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max (via 9to5Mac).

While foldable fans have been waiting years for Apple to join the market, this new report gives us our most detailed look yet at what’s happening under the hood. Pu’s data suggests Apple is taking a very different approach compared to the current iPhone lineup, mixing nostalgia with cutting-edge 2nm silicon.

The iPhone Fold is expected to feature a book-style design similar to the Google Pixel Fold or Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. The main attraction is a massive 7.8-inch internal display that effectively turns the phone into a mini-tablet. On the outside, users will find a 5.3-inch cover screen for quick tasks like checking notifications or replying to messages.

Surprisingly, Pu claims that Apple will ditch Face ID for this specific model. Instead, the iPhone Fold will reportedly mark the return of Touch ID, likely built into the side power button. This change might be a technical necessity to keep the foldable display as thin and “crease-free” as possible, or simply a way to manage the complex internal layout.

Under the hood, the iPhone Fold will be powered by the A20 Pro chip, which is expected to be Apple’s first processor built on TSMC’s 2nm process. This jump in technology should provide a significant boost in power efficiency and speed, which is crucial for a device running two screens.

To handle the heavy lifting of Apple Intelligence and multitasking, the Fold will come equipped with 12GB of RAM. This is a notable jump from current models and shows that Apple wants this device to be a true productivity powerhouse. The report also mentions a new “C2” in-house modem, which should improve 5G connectivity and battery life.

Apple is reportedly experimenting with materials to keep the Fold both light and durable. The casing is said to be a mix of aluminum and titanium. Specifically, titanium may be used for the hinge and stress points to prevent bending.

On the camera front, the iPhone Fold will likely sport a dual-lens system on the back. Both the main and ultra-wide sensors are expected to be 48 megapixels. For selfies and video calls, Pu expects 18-megapixel cameras on both the outer cover and the inner folding screen.
