Apple Accidentally Leaks ‘MacBook Neo’ on its Website: Here Is What We Know
Today Apple announced the new M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro, along with the M5 MacBook Air and new Studio Display XDR. Yesterday, the M4 iPad Air and iPhone 17e was announced. All that’s left for Wednesday? That’s the rumoured ‘low-cost’ MacBook.
Now, it appears Apple has accidentally leaked the name of its new entry laptop and it’s called: MacBook Neo (Model A3404). Sounds like something out of The Matrix?
That name was spotted on Apple’s website on a regulatory compliance page in Europe. The name has since been taken down by Apple (that was quick), but MacRumors spotted the change and took a screenshot, which you can see below:
The ‘MacBook Neo’ is rumoured to be powered by the A18 Pro chip from the iPhone 16 Pro, marking a major shift for the lineup. To achieve a lower price point, Apple will reportedly use a more cost-effective production process for the aluminum chassis, while the 12.9-inch display is expected to omit True Tone and a backlit keyboard.
Pricing is rumoured to sit between $599 and $699 USD (roughly $815 to $950 CAD). While this would be the most affordable Mac in years, it remains a premium compared to entry-level Chromebooks. We will have to wait for tomorrow’s event to see exactly what Apple has planned.
