Apple to Showcase Art Projects Made in Procreate on th Sydney Opera House

Apple and Australia’s Sydney Opera House have announced a year-long partnership where the venue will display original artworks made in Procreate on iPad. Over the course of the year, static and moving-image artworks will be projected on the Sydney Opera House.

As announced by Apple, the collaborative partnership is launching by projecting a newly commissioned artwork, Illuminating Creativity, on the building from March 25th through the 27th. The art piece will transform the Opera House’s eastern Bennelong sails.

Via a press release, it’s said that Apple and the Opera House are focusing on “interactive programming and experiences” for young people in the community. Apple is also supporting the institution’s Centre for Creativity. Through this, hands-on programming and experiences with technology will be held.

“The Sydney Opera House, like Apple, is synonymous with creativity. This collaboration is a natural fit between two organizations that continue to search for new ways for people to experience the world,” said Louise Herron AM, the Sydney Opera House’s CEO, in the press release. “From our first international children’s festival to exciting programming highlights throughout the year, Apple’s support will enable us to continue to inspire and welcome more of the community in line with our ambition to be Everyone’s House.”

The artwork created to be displayed was made in Procreate on iPad by a group of 10 emerging Australian artists. Apple wanted to showcase the ability of the art and illustration app. Procreate has been developed by Tasmanian company Savage Interactive and has become a go-to piece of software by artists around the world.

From March 9th through to March 15th, Apple Store locations across Australia will host free Today at Apple sessions. Members attending will be able to create their own digital artworks on iPad and submit their creations for consideration in the final projected program. Those accepted will have their work projected on March 25 through March 27th.
