Sony Unveils Limited Edition 007 First Light PS5 Controller
Sony has just given its fans a first look at the upcoming limited edition 007 First Light PS5 DualSense controller. This special release celebrates the highly anticipated return of James Bond to the world of gaming after more than a decade away.
The design of the new controller is an immediate standout, featuring a sophisticated golden sheen that coats the entire body. It is more than just a simple colour swap, and includes a radiant “barrel design” that serves as a nod to the iconic gun barrel sequence seen at the start of every Bond film.
One of the most impressive details is located on the touchpad, where James Bond’s legendary codename 007 is framed alongside his signature weapon. Rasmus Poulsen, the Franchise Art Director for the upcoming game 007 First Light, explained that the team saw this as a perfect opportunity to welcome Bond back in a way that felt instantly iconic.
Players can expect to feel the tension of every secret mission through the DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. For example, the triggers will provide precise resistance during intense gunfights, while the haptic motors will mimic the vibrations of explosive set pieces and high-speed car chases.
The controller’s release coincides with the launch of 007 First Light, developed by IO Interactive. This game is not based on any specific film but is instead an original origin story. Players will take on the role of a 26-year-old James Bond at the very beginning of his career, navigating a world of global intrigue to finally earn his status as a 00 agent.
Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on April 17, 2026, at 10 am local time. In many regions, including the U.K., France, Germany, and the U.S., fans can purchase directly from PlayStation at direct.playstation.com. The controller is priced at $84.99 USD (£74.99 / €84.99) and is set to officially launch on May 27, 2026, alongside the game.
