This week, the second Amazon Upfront event was held in Toronto. Over the course of an afternoon, Amazon discussed its upcoming slate of Canadian Originals, including Young Farts Trailer Parts, from executive producer Jacob Tierney. The company also outlined new advertising initiatives due to hit the service.

The content portion of Amazon Upfront was largely hosted by Mark Shopiro, Head of Prime Video Canada, Brent Haynes, Head of International Originals in Canada, and Javiera Balmaceda from Amazon MGM Studios.

Some of the broader, more global highlights included the very first look at a teaser for God of War, which has a two-season order and is filming in Vancouver. As an adaptation of one of PlayStation’s most successful franchises, the footage shown has me far more confident and excited to see the full series sometime in 2027. Other highlights included The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’s Charlie Vickers coming on stage to briefly tease what fans can expect from Season 3.

Into the meat of Amazon Upfront, a trailer for Young Farts Trailer Parts was shown to the audience. The series was previously known as Trailer Trash before changing its title. The six-episode unscripted reality series revolves around Vegreville, Alta., brothers Jagger and Dawson Glowatsky, who own and operate a successful multimillion-dollar RV business. With LetterKenny and Heated Rivarly‘s Tierney on board, this garnered a lot of excitement.

Young Farts Trailer Parts premieres on Prime Video on July 17th.

Hometown Giants was also given the spotlight. The series follows artist Michael Bublé and one-half of the Property Brothers, Drew Scott, as owners of the Vancouver Giants junior hockey team. The six-episode series sees the duo helping teenage players pursue their careers to reach the NHL. Bublé and Scott joined the stage to discuss their friendship and what owning the team meant to them.

Surrender, a reality survival series, was shown to audiences. Hosted and produced by TV host Scott McGillivray, the show thrusts a group of strangers into the Canadian wilderness. Production on the series begins this fall with a location already chosen.

A three-part documentary series looking at one of Canada’s most notorious serial killers is due this fall. The Pig Farm Killer: Robert Pickton, as the name suggests, centers on Pickton, who was convicted of murdering numerous women across Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside over decades.

Operation Deception is a French-language true-crime series in which journalist Patrick Lagacé and reporter Victor Malarek uncover a controversial drug operation in Quebec. The two-part docu-series premieres this fall.

LOL: qui rira le dernier? Season 5, as well as a Halloween special, is on its way.  Hosted by Patrick Huard, fan-favourite comedians from the first four seasons return to make each other laugh, all while resisting the urge to laugh themselves.

Heels in the Hay, a new French-language reality series where a group of content creators move to the countryside to work, sleep, eat and live out of their comfort zone. If they win, they walk away with a cash prize. The cast will be revealed later down the road.

Finally, Prime Video outlined its Canadian streaming plan with the NBA. As part of an ongoing 11-year global agreement, new games will be streamed starting in October. The deal covers 67 regular-season games, the Emirates NBA Cup 2026, and the 2027 Play-in Tournament. First- and second-round NBA Playoff games, with an exclusive Conference Finals series in six of the 11 years, will also be streamed. The NBA schedule for the 2026-2027 season will be shown later on this year.

Amazon Upfront also shared new ad initiatives. According to the company, TV campaigns in Canada delivered 1.2x higher ad recall and 2.3x stronger brand favourability compared to industry streaming benchmarks. As such, the company is introducing “next up” ads, a carousel that highlights products alongside end credits. Brands partnering as sponsors will get first access to the advertising spot.
