Leaker Shares iPhone 18 Pro Battery Capacities

According to prolific tipster Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to feature a slightly bigger battery as Apple continues to take advantage of the internal space saved by removing physical SIM card trays in certain regions (via MacRumors).

The leak indicates that Apple is testing two distinct battery configurations for the iPhone 18 Pro. In markets like the United States, where iPhones have moved to an eSIM-only design, the battery capacity is reportedly hitting 4,288 mAh. Meanwhile, in regions like China that still require a physical SIM tray, the capacity is slightly lower at 4,056 mAh.

While this difference of roughly 232 mAh might seem minor, it represents a clever engineering choice. By removing the physical SIM hardware, Apple frees up internal volume that can be occupied by a larger battery cell. For users in North America, this has become a standard benefit, but recent reports suggest Apple may expand this eSIM-only strategy to Europe with the iPhone 18 series, finally bringing the larger battery variant to millions of more customers.

On paper, these numbers represent a relatively modest year-over-year increase, around 0.8% to 1.7% depending on the model. However, the raw mAh figure never tells the full story of an iPhone’s endurance. The real magic for the iPhone 18 Pro will likely come from the A20 Pro chip.

Built on TSMC’s cutting-edge 2nm process, the A20 Pro is expected to be significantly more power-efficient than its predecessors. When you pair a slightly larger battery with a processor that sips power more slowly, the real-world result is often a much more noticeable gain in daily usage time.

For those who prioritise maximum endurance, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is where the bigger numbers reside. Leaks suggest that the Pro Max model is moving into the 5,100 mAh to 5,200 mAh range for eSIM versions. This would mark the first time an iPhone has officially crossed the 5,000 mAh threshold, potentially pushing the device toward a true two-day battery life for moderate users.
