YouTube Is Streaming the First 10 Minutes of Every World Cup Match for Free
As an official preferred platform partner of FIFA, YouTube has announced that official media partners will be able to live stream the first 10 minutes of every single match on their YouTube channels. That means fans can catch the opening kickoff of all 104 games for free, right on YouTube, before being directed to their local broadcaster for the full match. A select number of matches will also be available to stream in full on YouTube.
It’s a cool perk for casual fans who want to check in on a game without a subscription, or for anyone who just wants to check out the atmosphere of the opening whistle in all the different host cities across Canada, the US and Mexico.
YouTube also announced the first-ever YouTube FIFA Creator Cup, a creator and celebrity exhibition match that will live stream globally on YouTube from New York City on July 12. Details on team captains and players are still to come.
YouTube unveiled a roster of 25 creators with a combined 350 million-plus subscribers who will be attending matches throughout the tournament, covering everything from tactical breakdowns and food culture to behind-the-scenes moments and stadium vibes.
The only Canadian on the list is Jeenie Weenie, a former flight attendant turned content creator, who said “my last flight ever as a flight attendant was literally to the World Cup — now I’m trading the galley for the stadium stands to bring my subscribers the ultimate chaotic itinerary!”
Other notable creators on the roster include The Sidemen from the UK, Brazilian creators Neagle and Viniblogger, and a handful of big American names like Deestroying, Jesser, and Haley Kalil. Creators from Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Belgium, and the UAE are also part of the lineup, reflecting the global reach of the tournament.
Canada’s first match is against Bosnia-Herzegovina at Toronto’s BMO Field on Friday, June 12. Click here to learn how to watch and stream the FIFA World Cup live.
