MacPaw Releases ClearVPN Apps for Apple TV, Android TV
Setting up a virtual private network on a television has historically been a massive headache. MacPaw is taking aim at this frustration by launching dedicated, native apps for its ClearVPN service on both Apple TV and Android TV platforms.
ISPs and advertising networks routinely track what you watch, when you watch it, and where you are located. Bringing a dedicated solution straight to television operating systems gives users a much-needed tool to reclaim their digital boundaries on the largest display in the household.
The standout feature of this new release is how it tackles the traditionally clunky user experience of television applications. When you boot up the software on your television, you are presented with a large QR code. You simply scan the code with your smartphone camera, which immediately launches a secure pairing webpage on your mobile browser to authenticate your account.
If you prefer not to use a camera, the app also provides a brief activation link alongside a short numeric code that you can quickly punch into any nearby tablet, laptop, or phone. Within less than a minute, the television application registers the login and is completely ready for action.
Once you are inside the application, the system handles the technical heavy lifting automatically. Rather than forcing you to sort through a confusing maze of protocols or confusing server names, the interface relies on an Optimal Location tool. This single-button feature instantly analyzes network speeds to connect you to the fastest and most stable server available.
For those looking to browse overseas entertainment catalogues, a dedicated Streaming section automatically pairs your connection with optimized servers meant for specific media platforms.
“We built ClearVPN on one belief: privacy should be effortless,” said Tetiana Shokina, Product Manager at MacPaw, in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “Bringing it to Apple TV and Android TV wasn’t a feature request; it was the obvious next step. If simplicity is our promise, it has to work on every screen, including the biggest one.”
The software runs on modern, secure encryption protocols like AES-256 alongside custom performance tweaks to ensure that your 4K video streams do not suffer from sudden speed drops or mid-movie buffering.
A single premium subscription covers up to six devices simultaneously. The newly launched television applications are available globally starting today.
