Annapurna Interactive and development studio Beethoven & Dinosaur have announced that this year’s critically acclaimed indie title Mixtape is coming to Mac “soon.”

According to the company, Mixtape is being ported to Mac natively and will soon be available on the Mac App Store for $19.99 USD (around $27.99 CAD). Annapurna Interactive confirms that Mixtape will support gamepads and Game Center achievements.

Mixtape was released on PlayStation 5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S earlier this May. The game follows three high school students through their last night together before life hits them hard, and they must separate. The game includes a curated playlist that, in-game, draws the trio into dreamlike sequences representing their favourite memories together.

The game features tracks from DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, and The Cure.

“For many years, I feel, there was a lot of Devo on Macs, but not enough. With the release of Mixtape on Mac, I’m excited to add a little more Devo to the ecosystem,” said Johnny Galvatron, Writer & Director of the game.

Mixtape was released with very high scores and an overall positive reception. As a coming-of-age story, emblematic of those who grew up in the 1990s, it’s easy to feel nostalgic while playing the game. On OpenCritic, the game is sitting at 85 for the Top Critic Average.

Soon, an entire new audience will be able to play Mixtape. Although no firm release has been announced, Mac users can be excited to play one of this year’s most acclaimed titles.
