Apple Releases Tips On Cleaning Pro Display XDR

Apple has released a detailed list of tips for cleaning your Pro Display XDR and avoid damaging the display of the unit.

In an Apple Support post published yesterday, Apple went over the cleaning procedures of both the standard glass units as well as the nano-texture glass models. It is of the utmost importance to identify which one you are cleaning before advancing. Nano-texture glass can not come into any contact with liquids as it has a high chance of damaging the display.

For the nano-texture glass, Apple suggests using the included polishing cloth to wipe away smudges and dust from the screen. The polishing cloth is the only material suited for cleaning as a paper towel, kitchen cloth, etc. can also damage the screen in the process.

The standard screen, the cleaning process is a bit more laid back. Apple continues to suggest using the polishing cloth, but also notes that any micro-fibre cloth will suffice. Once you unplug the display unit from a power source, you can add a bit of water to the cloth and wipe the screen.

When speaking about the enclosure and stand, keep the unit unplugged and use a damp lint-free cloth. Apple urges everyone from avoiding window cleaners, aerosol sprays, abrasives, and cleaners using hydrogen peroxide when cleaning the enclosure to avoid damage. For dust removal, use an anti-electrostatic brush tip rather than any compressed air.

Finally, to clean the provided polishing cloth — which deserves some love too — hand wash with dish soap and water and let it air dry for 24 hours.

The Pro Display XDR has a beefy 32-inch Retina 6K display and costs $6,299 for the standard display and $7,499 for the nano-texture glass screen. The last thing you want is to damage any aspect of it when cleaning.
