Chatr credit cards

Rogers offers various credit cards and the company just launched new Mastercard for its prepaid brand, chatr.

There are two available: the chatr Mastercard and chatr Secured Mastercard, which the company says “are designed to help Canadian residents build or rebuild their credit and ensure that all Canadians can participate in a COVID-19 and post-pandemic digital economy.”

These new credit cards are targeting new Canadian residents or young adults seeking to build credit, according to Rogers, with the chatr Secured Mastercard guaranteeing approval to eligible customers, while also offering rewards.

“In a world where contactless payments and ecommerce are growing, it’s vital that everyone living in Canada has access to the digital economy whether they have credit history or not,” said Shailendra Gujarati, Vice President, chatr.

The chatr Secured Mastercard costs $5 per month, requires security funds and offers 1% cash back on chatr purchases and 0.5% cash back on other eligible purchases.

The chatr Mastercard has no annual fee and no security funds required. It provides 3% cash back on chatr purchases and and 1% on other eligible purchases. According to chatr, a welcome bonus offers $25 in cash back rewards after a first purchase is made within 90 days.

These new cards from Rogers Bank support contactless payments and also text or email push alerts for budgeting and also for account activity. Apple Pay is not supported but we’ve reached out to the company to see when their credit cards will support the mobile payment system.
