Telus to Invest $840M in Quebec Over the Next 3 Years to Expand 4G LTE Wireless Network

Hot on the heels of last week’s $650 million investment announcement in Ontario, Telus has issued a press release to announce plans to commit $840 million in Quebec over the next three years. $440 million of the investment will be concentrated in Montreal and $150 million in Quebec City. This year marks 85 years Telus has been in Quebec.

The Montreal metro region and the Quebec City area to receive 4G LTE later this year as part of the expansion plans. Other areas of the province will receive 75 new wireless sites to expand the network.

Other areas of focus will include Optik TV and internet to Greater Quebec City, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie and Côte-Nord regions, including Gaspé, Donnacona, Montmagny, Sept-Îles and Port-Cartier. Also, a new $65 million dollar internet data centre will be built in Rimouski later this year.

“This year, TELUS will further extend our 4G LTE – the fastest wireless technology in the world – to the Montreal Metropolitan region and the Quebec City area, while bringing new wireless and broadband services to even more rural communities. Our significant growth in Quebec has been made possible because of our customers’ trust and loyalty in TELUS and our products and services.”

Telus will also concentrate its investments to deliver healthcare IT delivery and earmark other community fundraising efforts.
