Ashton Kutcher to Portray Steve Jobs in the Indie Pic ‘Jobs’

According to reports from Variety and the Hollywood Reporter, Ashton Kutcher will play the role of Steve Jobs in an upcoming indie pic titled “Jobs,” with production to start in May. The film will be directed by Joshua Michael Stern, script written by Matt Whiteley and financed and produced by Five Star Institute’s Mark Hulme:

The King of Twitter is now the King of Apple, as “Two and a Half Men” star Ashton Kutcher is attached to play Steve Jobs in the indie pic “Jobs,” which Joshua Michael Stern (“Swing Vote”) will direct from a script by Matt Whiteley. The film will chronicle Steve Jobs from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time.

Many thought this front page story was an April Fools Day joke, but Variety reporter Jeff Sneider confirmed it on twitter:

Sony is working on its own Steve Jobs movie, based on the biography by Walter Isaacson, with rumours of George Clooney and Noah Wyle up for the position of portraying the former Apple CEO. The latter perfected his art of becoming Steve Jobs in the 1999 movie Pirates of Silicone Valley, and even demonstrated this on stage at Macworld in New York City:

Ashton Kutcher might portray the look of Steve Jobs better than acting. I can’t stop thinking about a better title though, such as ‘Dude Where’s My iPhone?‘. What do you think? Can Kutcher pull it off?
