Samsung Ready To Attack iPhone 5 At Launch With Patent Lawsuits

iPhone 5 is due to be launched in less than a month according to majority of rumors and it appears that Samsung is already prepping up to attack it with a handful of patent lawsuits. The only thing stopping them from pulling the trigger right now is the lack of official details regarding the upcoming iPhone handset. This means that since the targeted product is not even available yet, Samsung can not lodge any infringement claim against it. However, the Korean company lawyers are preparing a case based on basic wireless technology patents owned by Samsung, which the iPhone 5 will likely be using, as reported by MacRumors.

Samsung’s senior executive has reported to The Korea Times.

“Just after the arrival of the iPhone 5 here, Samsung plans to take Apple to court here for its violation of Samsung’s wireless technology related patents,”

“For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights.”

There are citings from unspecified “officials” in The Korea Times report claiming that the next generation iPhone will include near-field communication (NFC) technology. Even though there have been quite a few rumors about Apple incorparting such a technology in future handsets, it is highly unlikely that the iPhone 5 will include it.
