A Chinese leaker on Twitter @UniverseIce, has claimed in a recent Tweet next year’s iPhone models will feature the same notched display design as the iPhone X and iPhone XS/XS Max (via BGR).
The leaker also claims that the 2020 iPhone models will deliver a screen redesign similar to Samsung’s Infinity-O screen that has no notch with selfie cam punching through the screen.
It must be noted here that back in 2016, Apple filed a patent describing technology for drilling holes in displays, way before the iPhone X was released.
Although Apple settles on the next-gen iPhone design well in advance of its launch, it’s probably too early for 2020 iPhone leaks. As long as Face ID is still here, a notch is required to house hardware for the latter.
