Vicky Eatrides, who has been in the federal public service since 2005, replaced Ian Scott and started her five-year term as CRTC chair and CEO on January 5
Scott's term as CRTC chair is due to end on January 4, 2023, after Ottawa extended it to find a suitable replacement, which still hasn't been announced
Scott initially offered assurances that user content was off the table, but ultimately admitted that the bill would give the CRTC regulatory authority over it
The Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner questioned Scott and ruled there was no conflict of interest because he and Bibic aren't actually friends.
As constructed, there is a provision that would allow us to do it as required," Ian Scott told MPs at a House of Commons heritage committee on Wednesday.
