Zuckerberg Announces Facebook Has Hit 1 Billion Users Milestone, Reveals Tim Cook Sent Him An iPhone 5 [VIDEO]

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO and founder of Facebook, has today announced that the world’s most popular social networking service has passed 1 billion active monthly users in just 8 years since its inception in a Harvard dorm room (via 9to5Mac).

Here’s what Zuckerberg wrote on the official Facebook news page today:

“This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month.

If you’re reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you.

Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.

I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too”.

As Apple continues to deeply integrate Facebook into both iOS 6 and Mountain Lion, Facebook CEO reveals his relationship and admiration for Apple CEO Steve Jobs. While talking to the Today Show’s Matt Laurer, he also revealed that Tim Cook sent him an iPhone 5.

Zuckerberg also said in his interview that most people actually access Facebook on the mobile web rather than an app.
