New Eco-Friendlier iPhone Case From Pela – Saying No To Plastic [Review]

It’s been nearly a year since Gary asked me to be part of the amazing group here at iPhone in Canada and iPad in Canada. My first video was a review of the Pela Case. An eco-friendly case for your iPhone 4 or 4S that was made with plant byproducts.
Nearly a year later, and the Canadian company has a new version of its non-plastic case. But unlike the previous generation, this one is soft and flexible. The folks over at Pela have improved their process, making this version even more eco-friendly.
What I really love about these cases is you can see the flax straw bits in the case. It’s part of the look and no two cases will be the same. I know there are some who don’t care for how they look, but it really is unique, and the fact it’s made from waste and in Saskatchewan is so cool.
Check out my video review of the Pela Case.

Other changes you’ll notice from the previous version is the camera cutout and the volume buttons. They are now in the shape of a pentagon, the same as Pela’s logo. This is a nice touch and means you’ll likely have no issues with any flashback effects because the camera cutout is so large.
The Pela case feels great in the hand. The previous version was a little slick so this one is definitely easier to grip. Because it’s flexible, it’s also a lot easier to put on and take off.
If you’re someone who’s looking for a unique case for your iPhone that’s not only Canadian made but eco-friendly, you can’t go wrong with a Pela case. They come in several different colours and the cases are available for the iPhone 4, 4S and 5.
Let me know what you think. I’m interested to know if eco-friendly or Canadian made cases are something you are interested in. Leave a comment below.

Don’t like flexible (rubber) cases. They are too grippy. It tends to stick to your jeans pockets, making it difficult to take out. Also this case seems to have a loose fitting. This won’t happen with a hard case. I will reconsider when they come out with a hard version.

I guess one can use this case for emergency survival conditions too, especially in winter emergencies. Melt and boil some snow. Drop the Pela case in it. Boil for 15 minutes,Add salt and peper to taste, if have any, and Voila! You’ve got emergency flax soup to prevent from starving!!! Use iPhone to call emergencies. Enjoy soup while search parties find you, lol!!!
