AppHero Data Shows the App Store Has Surpassed 800,000 Apps

Canadian startup AppHero was previously featured on NBC and praised for the app’s ability to provide interesting and relevant app recommendations. The Canadian founder, Jordan Satok, has let us know their research stats from the App Store as of a couple days ago show over 800,000 apps. They have summarized their findings in the following infographic:

The data, taken from the available apps in the U.S. App Store reveals 20% of apps are games while 56% of apps are free downloads. On average, 850+ new apps are released daily while the majority of apps are made for the iPhone (689,800) compared to the iPad (332,800), with just under 30% of these optimized for both.

It’s only a matter of time before the App Store smashes its 1 million app mark. Last March, Apple celebrated the 25 billionth app download by giving away a $10,000 iTunes Card to a lucky winner in China.
