Instagram Tests ‘You’re All Caught Up’ Message to Ease Your FOMO

A new digital health feature is being tested by Instagram, which informs users when they have seen all the latest posts in the past two days from people they’re following, so they won’t suffer from FOMO (fear of missing out).

The feature message reads “You’re All Caught Up – You’ve seen all new post from the past 48 hours,” and will show up in your feed. Instagram confirmed the feature to TechCrunch, but declined to provide any details as to how it works and how the algorithm works based on the images you’ve seen.

Instagram’s main feed can result in users scrolling endlessly, constantly checking posts from their friends and more, but this message aims to bring some sort of closure, to indicate to users they can take a break and stop looking for new posts.

With people now caring about smartphone addiction as a real problem, companies are trying to step up to make things easier and healthier for users.

Last week, it was discovered Instagram was set to debut a new tool called Usage Insights, to let users manage their time spent within the app.
