Temple Run 2 Sprints Past 50 Million Downloads in 2 Weeks

Temple Run 2 has announced it has topped 50 million downloads in two weeks, making it the fastest growing mobile game in history, beating out the previous record held by Angry Birds Space (50 million downloads in 35 days). Previously Imangi Studios announced Temple Run 2 had hit 20 million downloads in its first four days; the game had six million downloads in less than 24 hours.

“Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us,” says Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi. “The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time.”

The husband and wife team at Imangi Studios said in an interview the existing ‘freemium’ model for Temple Run 2 has been much more profitable than a paid app, due to the fact users can’t resist in-app purchases.

The original Temple Run has been downloaded over 170 million times. It looks like the sequel will easily surpass and break this record too. You can check out our Temple Run 2 review here.
