You know wht the best type of game is? A free one! Well, I supposed that’s not always true. There are tons of crap games in the App Store, but this new free offering from The Simpsons is pretty amazing. They could have charged quite a bit for this game, but it is completely free! The Simpsons: Tapped Out takes a different approach to the SIM City type of games. It is immediately gratifying, with gorgeous art and voice acting from the actual actors from The Simpsons tv series.

THIS GAME IS LIFE-RUININGLY FUN! Homer accidently caused a meltdown that wiped out Springfield. D’OH! Now, it’s up to you to rebuild it! From the writers of The Simpsons, tap into a city building game that lets you create your own living, breathing Springfield… for FREE.

Firstly, let me say I am a big Simpsons fan (even though I know it’s gone off the boil the last 5 years!) and I continue to watch the show.

Now, I wouldn’t call the game free. It’s “freemium” meaning you have to pay real money to get the most out of it (think Smurfs).

I’ve been playing it for more than a day and I have to say that unless you invest real money in the game you’re in for an extremely boring experience.
Real money buys you donuts which you can use to speed up any event (Apu’s 8 hour shift really does take 8 hours if you don’t use a donut!)

I didn’t invest any money in the 1.5 days I played it, meaning you literally wait 8 hours (or 24 hours in some “tasks”), once the tutorials are completed, to do anything else.

I would rather have paid $2-3 for a real game, rather than this effort.

Personally, I blame Zynga!!

I agree with you. On a lot of the free games, unless you purchase the iap’s you can not progress further. A total money grab by the developers.

Gary, not sure where you have found these new writers lately but most of them are shit. Either they write a review like they got paid to do it or they have horrible grammar.

I guess with all the success lately of the site, you have gotten more contributing authors. I personally think you and Usman were doing a great job. These new articles, for a lack of better word….Blow.

U can earn 10 free donuts on 2 different occasions .
1. Make homer open his mypad and tap him several times without closing the option box.
2. When u log in the first time for 5 days in a row u get 10 donuts.

Theyve temporarily taken it down due to server issues. I think anyone with it already will still have it. I had the chance yesterday, but my account was froze or something for whatever reason. So i couldnt download it… 🙁

This game has not been developed properly, I think. I’ve managed to collect from my lemon tree over 4 times this morning, the first few times a couple minutes apart when it’s supposed to take around 5 hours. It takes 3 tries to even connect to the game. I’m not sure what needs to be done to “save” progress, as it seems I am repeatedly redoing tasks and finding things that appear uncollected when I have, in fact, collected them minutes earlier. This game has a lot of potential, but it’s not working as it should and I’m ready to quit.
