touchMS App Allows Multiple Sclerosis Patients to Manage Disease

For those who are dealing with or know of people dealing with multiple sclerosis (MS), an app has been made available to assist patients in managing the disease.

TouchMS was created as an interactive tool by Canadian MS experts to engage users and empowering them to learn more about the disease and how to cope with it. The free app contains video, animations and literature to help people learn more about MS and how to live with it:

•A Canadian-specific introduction to MS
•In-depth information about how MS affects the brain & central nervous system
•Information about the different types of MS
•Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS)
•An overview of MS medications, devices and treatment options
•How & where to inject MS medication
•How to identify common types of MS relapses

The app is the work of EMD Serono:

“As a patient-focused organization one of our primary goals is to ensure that patients have access to the best tools and resources to learn more about managing their disease,” said Ina Sungaila, Head of Commercial Operations at EMD Serono, Canada. “Our patients and healthcare professionals have given us great feedback on the professional version of this app and we wanted to make it available to them on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch for access anywhere, anytime.”

According to the developers, they’ve told us the app has already reached the #1 spot in the Medical category in the Canadian App Store for both the iPhone and iPad versions of the app.
