[Update] Fido Launches Unlimited Canada-Wide $50 Talk and Text Plan
Update 1: Our own tipster notes:
You can’t use iPhone on this plan. In other words, if you want an iPhone at $159, you can’t use this plan.
Unless you sign up for a 3 year voice/data term, cancel, pay ECF (early cancellation fee) and DECF (data early cancellation fee) and switch to the new plan…which no one will do.
iPhone subsidy (discount) is ONLY available on 3 year voice and 3 year data.In other words, this $50 plan ONLY benefits the following people who meet both conditions:1.) Do not have a long length contract with Fido (or any contract)2.) Own their own device

- Unlimited Local and long distance minutes Canada-wide
- Unlimited incoming calls Canada-wide
- Unlimited evenings and weekends Canada-wide
- Unlimited texting within Canada and to International numbers
Here are the eligibility details:
- Not available on 3 year terms
- For new or existing customers
- Not available for data subsidy; 2 year voice subsidy still applies
- Existing customers on 3 year terms will pay an Early Cancellation Fee (ECF) if they change terms
- Works with any device
Add this plan to the $30 6GB data plan, add caller ID and voicemail, and you’re looking at $92-95 per month plus tax. Who’s interested in this new Fido offering?

$30 6GB plan!? when did that happen! was keeping an eye on it since you ve been posting the other carriers past couple of months!
You need to call Fido and ask about.
Is 35$ unlimited city is better or $50? either way you are adding addon for caller id and voicemail?
How is Mobilicity? or KOODO UNLIMITED 35? – ANY OPINIONS ON THAT?
What about WINDO 65$ PLAN?
WIND is garbage. The coverage just isn’t there.
When you compare dollars to features, Koodo is the way to go.
The Fido $50 is decent if you really need the long distance calling.
I have Fido and been with then since their 2nd year of business…I pay 80 dollars plus taxs. 6g data for 20$, 50$ for all North America talk and text and picture, 10$ for call display, voicemail, call forwarding. I also don’t have to worry about roaming charges! Now my wife didn’t get that phone…she has this offer and wifi the whole way…heck Im tempted to just remove all the perks on my phone and use all those lovely apps!
Also Rogers has a 6g $30 data plan.
Way to expensive, but then again you get no LD charges anywhere in Canada.
yawn, who cares about long distance anymore anyway
Rogers has a similar deal as well. I got it last week after my spouse got the fido plan. James
Way to expansive with Data and caller ID and voicemail. Not interested.
City Fido at 35 + 10 for unlimited Canada. Why bother with this one?
Because it is Canada wide not just in the one city you pick… Also there re a limited number of cities on the city list.
Just checked. It’s Canada wide for the 10 extra. Where is this list you’re talking about. International is 60 cities but unlimited Canada is Canada wide. Am I missing something??
If you are in a city not on the list it is of no use to you. City Fido is only good in the city zone you selected. So we got unlimited local calling for $45 a month and than added $15 for nation wide. Total of $60 for unlimited Canada wide calling and international texting.
Check the pull down on the left.

Cause city fido gives you unlimited local call just in your local area even if you add the 10$ unlimted canada , that mean if you move from your local area to another city using your phone ,you will not be charged for long distance call but you will get a charge for air time because you are out of your local area
This is not true, “Existing customers on 3 year terms will pay an Early Cancellation Fee (ECF) if they change terms” my spouse is on her second year with Fido and was allowed to switch. Same as with Rogers, I switch and am in my 2nd yr plan of my 3yr contract. I did not pay any cancelation fees. James
Also, we both have unlocked Apple iPhone 4S phones, sold our old phones and plugged in our Rogers and Fido micro sims, so again this info is not correct. we are using this plan with our iPhones that are in the middle of our 3 Yr plan cycle.
That’s a nice deal. I am still on my old ‘unlimited Canada’ Fido (unlimited calls and LD in Canada) for $70 but not unlimited texting on my iPhone.
Got similar plan with Virgin Mobile.
I own my own iPhone 4S.
Unlimited Canadawide-talk and unlimited worldwide-text for 50$
Caller Display for 7$
First two months data free unlimited without additional data plan.
So total 57$ for now.
But how much after the two months are over?
