Share:

If you’re a Rogers cable subscriber with a PVR, you’re going to like this app. The Rogers Remote TV Manager app allows existing users to schedule recordings, search for shows, and works on both WiFi and 3G.

The app is free, and works with the Rogers model 8300HD PVR (8642 HD PVR soon to come), and a MyRogers account is required to login to the app. iOS 4.x is also required on your iPhone.

Description below:

Forgot to schedule a recording? The Rogers Remote TV Manager is the iPhone app for you! Rogers customers now have the freedom and flexibility to manage their HD PVR from anywhere. It’s easy convenient and FREE!

Features
•Advanced search to help find what you want faster
•Easily schedule recordings
•Manage your recordings without being in front of your TV
•Browse the on-screen guide to find your favourite shows
•Assists you in resolving any recording conflicts
•Quickly see how much space is available for recordings
•Available on all Wireless Networks
•Works with WiFi as well as with your mobile network

I’m not on Rogers for cable out West, so you guys and gals will have to let me know how well this app works! So far, Telus and Bell have released iPhone apps to control PVRs. Great to see Rogers join the club too.

Thanks for the email Roger!

  • Roman

    Unable to retrieve….

  • Bluenose56

Like most things Rogers….. It Doesn’t work

  • JHalmos

Here’s hoping the 8642 “coming soon” is Apple “soon” and not RIM “soon.”

  • Charlize

     i love it! well done.

  • Joshua Pun

Doesn’t work. Keep on getting a conflict resolution in progress error

  • Daniel

Keep getting unable to retrieve information. Typical Rogers Fail.

  • Finiti

Wish shaw would hurry up and come out with one

Geeze I thought people on here were smarter … If it fails that means you have to log into your account on their web page and add your cable tv account to your profile … The account number is without the dash (they don’t mention that) honestly it took me five minutes to add and the app works great!

I love the fact that your PVR doesn’t need to be connected to the web (because it’s cable) unlike Bell.

  • Junior Cortorreal

Works great just had to give it 5 hours for it to become available

not true. i already had that account added to my profile and it still fails to retrieve info. i have the bundled bills. the account number under my profile when you go to edit my profile it shows up as internet/cable.

my bad, i have the 8642, fail :P

  • Dennis

    Great news! Thanks Gary.

I’d switch to the first carrier that allowed me to use a Tivo!  Tivo ipad app is lightyears ahead of this app.  Canada should follow the us lead and not restrict devices that carriers allow to connect to their services.

I’m willin to bet 90% o the fails on here are not Rogers. And are box related. I tried logging in and got “unable to retrieve information” or something which seemed odd. So I checked the FAQ and whithin 5 mins I realized my box is not compatible yet.

  • Weebsurfer

Mine failed on the first attempt but then did an account refresh. After that.. Budda boom! Also, Don’t add “@Rogers.com” to the account name.(irritating inconsistency with Rogers logins)
Anyone know if there’s a minimum software rev for the PVR to work with this? Haven’t seen Rogers brag about this yet so likely not in full distribution yet.

  • PEeeeeeeeee

Waiting for availability on the newer pvrs. I have 2 an they both are the newer one so a little annoying on this and also still waiting on caller Id addition for the past year on the new boxes. Slingbox has solved this problem for me a while back tho

Initially I got the “Retrieving Account Information…” followed by a message that said it couldn’t retrieve my account. Now I get the same “Retrieving Account Information…”followed by “Remote TV Manager is currently unavailable”

I have an 8642 HD PVR, which is supposedly “coming soon”.

Oh well, whenever they get around to it, I’ve got the app loaded and ready.

  • @Rogers_Chris

Hi folks, it’s Chris at Rogers here. It’s really nice to read the positive feedback so far 🙂

I’ve personally found the app useful already – I had to record the Canucks game the other night, but I was out of the house and would have missed most of it. Luckily, the app worked like a charm and I was able to catch up to the game live when I got home.

Keep the feedback coming – we’re listening!

It is such a useful application of iPhone. I am happy with your post. The rogers remote TV Manager application has so many benefits. You can recorded live shows and watch it in future.

I’ve been waiting so long for this app! Sadly it doesn’t work for me. I’m able to log in no problem. But anytime I try to record anything it says “Conflict in progress” I check what I am supposedly recording and it will be 2 (sometimes 4, which isn’t even possible) shows that there is no way I’d ever record. Last night I tried to use the app to record something as a test. It gave me that same error and said that I was recording something. I was sitting in front of my pvr and could clearly see that it wasn’t recording anything. Fail 🙁

There are so many applications for iPhone. But it is a nice entertainment application for the iPHone users. The main benefit is that this application works on both WiFi and 3G.

    WTF?! Only for Iphone users?

That doesn’t make sense when you sell Blackberrys. C’mon rogers, stop continously giving customers reasons to not do business with you.
