PC Mobile, the wireless offering from all 181 The Mobile Shop locations inside Loblaws retail locations, will no longer offer postpaid wireless services, starting today.

In an internal memo shared yesterday to employees, PC Mobile says “there will be no impact to existing monthly customers for the remainder of their PC Mobile contract term.”

Existing postpaid customers will eventually be migrated over to Telus flanker brand Koodo Mobile, as of October 2, 2018. Both companies said they are “committed to ensuring a smooth transition and are contacting customers directly to provide more information.” Postpaid customers can still pay their monthly bills at The Mobile Shop kiosks, even after the transition in October.

This change does not affect PC Mobile prepaid customers, as their service will remain as normal. PC Mobile prepaid customers have their service provided by Bell, while postpaid customers are served by Telus. PC Mobile launched their wireless service back in 2013, and this postpaid exit comes just shy of the company’s fifth year anniversary.

Koodo Offer for PC Mobile Customers

According to Koodo, there’s an early offer for PC Mobile switchers. The company says for “a limited time only,” early PC Mobile switchers who migrate over to Koodo before the October 2, 2018 deadline, can save $5 off their monthly bill for 12 months, plus an additional $10 in compensation for each migration (Update: Koodo clarified they are not offering $10 compensation for each migration as previously reported).

Customers switching from PC Mobile to Koodo will require a credit check and once that is complete, the offer code PC2KOODO should be entered by the associate.

PC Mobile has posted a full FAQ on their website about the change, which you can check out here.
