Public Mobile Promo: $53 Plan with 4GB, Unlimited Province-wide Calling, Global Text

TELUS-owned Public Mobile has launched a new promotional plan, which works out to $55 per month with 4GB of LTE data, unlimited province-wide calling and unlimited global text.

The plan setup is the 12GB data bucket on a 90-day plan for $165, which works out to $55 per month (or $53 after a $2 Autopay credit is applied).

Public Mobile says this plan is “only for a limited period of time” and it will not be extended for any SIM cards that have not been activated by the plan deadline.

To get started, you first need to order a Public Mobile SIM card. Next, you can follow our step-by-step tutorial on how to port over your iPhone number to Public Mobile.

To get an equivalent 4GB BYOD plan from Koodo or Virgin Mobile, it would cost you at least $80/3GB or $100/5GB. Fido’s BYOD plans will cost you $85/3GB or $115/7GB, for example. Public Mobile is well worth it to switch if you want to save money, as it appears prices keep increasing in Canada (except for those in SK/MB/QC).

We switched over to Public Mobile’s $38/4GB plan from last fall from Fido, and haven’t looked back. Data speeds and network coverage have been excellent.

Happy with my $38 plan, but I’m nearly out of data, and I’m not super thrilled at the prospect of having to pay $30 to add a measly 1 GB to help me make it to the next 90 days.
