How to: iPhone SMS Timestamp Fix for 1.1.3 and 1.1.4

Lately a lot of you have taken the plunge to either 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 firmware, thanks to my post on how to upgrade from 1.1.1 to 1.1.4 with ZiPhone 2.5c. Anyways, ever since daylight savings time hit and prior to that, some people have run into a problem with their SMS timestamps. The time is a few hours behind and does not show up properly. How to fix this problem? Read on!

The following solution was posted by user LDN2012 on HowardForums. It has worked successfully for users who tried it out so I’m going to pass this along to you fine folks (especially those who have been emailing me asking about a fix!).

How to Fix the iPhone Incorrect Timestamp Issue on 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 firmware

Launch Installer. Click on Sources. Click Edit. Click Add.
Type in http://www.iphones.ru/r …click OK. Refresh Sources.
Click on the Install tab. Go to the category iPhone.RU.
Install the SMS Timefix (the description is not in English, but it will work!)
Reply back here to let us know if it worked or not.

Again, you are on your own whenever you’re trying these fixes and such, since the Source URL is from an untrusted source. However, users on this thread have had success, so it looks pretty positive that it will fix your SMS timestamp issue. Let us know if it works! =)

I installed this app and at first everything was working great! after about 4 days i started only being able to get a preview if i didnt have a conversation already started with the person and when i replied it wouldnt show the message in the conversation box. I used another phone to find out my problem. turns out that this app was the problem after uninstalling it, it showed my messages when i would receive one but with the time 4 hours behind yet again, i reinstalled and same problem message was not visible.

I think i’ll just update to 1.1.4 with iplus 2.0b it seems to do the job

I just updated to 1.1.4 and unlocked with iPlus it fixed the timestamp problem and everything on my phone works perfectly!

It works perfectly for messages from people who are in my SMS history already, but new users (i.e. if Facebook sends me a message) are not shown. Does this happen to anyone else?

I had the same problem (disappearing SMS) when I installed the time fix on my jailbroken 1.1.3. Have upgraded to 1.1.4 now with iPlus 2.0b and all seems fine now (without the sms time fix)

Im on fido in canada with 1.1.4, and problem I am having is I can send SMS text but I don’t seam to recieve tried restore and all that but no luck biggest downside to my phone…

all you need to do is:
1. set your date and time set automatically “off”.
2. choose “Reykjavik, Iceland” as your timezone.
3. select set date and time to the appropriate time.
Done.

I have an unlocked version of the iPhone (Canada) version 1.1.3.
This problem is indeed annoying. I have following the steps suggested about the Sources and it installs the source properly. However, at the Install stage, the iPhone.RU was no where to be found. I re-booted the iPhone, but still no sign of it. The Source http://www.iphones.ru/r is there though. So not sure where to find it.

As others suggested, I also play with turning the automatic time on & off, and that did nothing.

I’m in Toronto and my SMS time stamp is always 4 hours earlier for people (even Google automatic response) who respond to me.
