Physical iPhone 5 Prototype Created Based on CAD Designs, Rumours [PICS]

In five days Apple will announce news on their latest iPhone at their ‘Let’s Talk iPhone’ event at their Cupertino campus. What will the iPhone 5 look like? Well, it could look like the following physical prototype created by Giga.de.

The team created a real physical prototype based on rumours, CAD designs, leaked hints, and cases, where it all came to life in a 3D computer model. This detailed model was then used to produce a detailed prototype, even incorporating the rumoured tear drop design. Check it out below:

Here’s some video too of the device:

What do you think? It’s a pretty good looking prototype. I expect the next iPhone to be equally as thin. Tuesday can’t come any sooner.

(thanks Corey!)

It’s funny because based on what these guys say if it is true which we won’t know until tuesday I don’t like the design at all….but then again when i saw the preview of the iPhone 4 I didn’t like the design at all but now I love it. Why do people not like the double glass look of the iPhone 4 anyways? I know it makes it a bit more scary because it can break but I love the look…makes it look so much more sophisticated so if they get ride of the double glass look and go for what this guy and others is saying that would suck..
but that’s only my opinion anyways.
Right now I don’t plan on buying the new iphone as there is no reason for me to upgrade. My iPhone 4 does everything I need at this point in time..

I agree completely. The same happened for me.

I do want to upgrade though.

I believe you mean “look like”, Gary. Not “look look”. 🙂

It’s nice to see a video of a mockup rather than pictures. I’ve had the 3G, 3GS, and 4 and am excited for a larger screen and dual core processor. I’ve found the battery life to be double with iOS 5 beta than with the latest iOS 4 version.

Am I the only one who don’t care how the phone looks?
My purchase decision is purely based on functions and feature sets; never on looks.

To me, all touch screen smart phones look similar enough anyways.
Thin, flat with a glass screen in front and a few buttons.   That’s good enough for me. 🙂

Looks can definitely only go so far–but it doesn’t hurt to have a sexy phone! At this stage of smartphone evolution, software is king.

I liked the look of the original iPhone best with the brushed metal back… But really I could care less as long as the new one has 64gb of storage!!! I’m so out of room!

The look and physical appearance of a smartphone may not be an important factor, but it is the indication of how much tought and care has gone into the design and build. Apple products have always been cuttingedge and the care they take in making the look shows i: you know you’re getting the best just by looking at it!

“tought” was supposed to be “thought” , sorry.
