Review: iSkin Revo2 for iPhone 3G/3GS
Only hours later here we are again with another case review for your iPhone 3G/3GS!
Today we have the iSkin Revo2, which is the upgrade from the popular Revo that was designed for the first generation iPhone. The Revo2 is a silicone case that has some unique features to it, but one of those features I have never heard before for a silicone case.

The Revo2 is a silicone case designed for your iPhone 3G/3GS. While most silicone cases, such as the Revo2, protect the sides and back of the iPhone, the Revo2 seems to put a greater focus of protection on the screen. Personally, I could not care less if the back of my iPhone gets scratched but if the screen was ever to get scratched, I think I would cry. So I really like that iSkin chose to focus on the screen protection aspect.
The Revo2 includes two layers of protection for your iPhone 3G/3GS screen. The first layer is the included anti-glare, anti-fingerprint protective screen film. This is applied directly to the screen of the iPhone. The second layer is a clear plastic scratch resistant screen shield that snaps into place over the screen that also protects against impacts. I like to think of it as a blast shield. As a neat little extra, if you are not using the plastic screen protector, it easily snaps onto the back of the case for easy storage! Do note, when the plastic screen shield is on, you cannot actually use the iPhone touchscreen.
Screen protection aside, the actual silicone case covers the sides, top, bottom, and back of the iPhone. The Revo2 has all the appropriate cutouts for easy access to areas such as the headphone jack or dock connector. The sides of the case also have a honey comb micro-texture that provides a good grip when holding the case with your iPhone in it. Overall, the case feels very soft in the hand and the silicone material of the Revo2 works to prevent lint attaching to it, which is a welcomed feature to a silicone case.
However, the Revo2 has something that I have never heard before for a silicone case. iSkin calls it “Microbanâ„¢ antimicrobial protection”. In other words, the case protects against the growth of odors and stain causing bacteria. Now, I have never had odor or stain causing problems before with silicone cases, however I can see how that could happen depending on how long you have had your case. But because I have never heard of this type of innovation in a silicone case, the Revo2 gets bonus points for this.
Overall, I give the iSkin Revo2 a solid 4/5. You get a very premium silicone material that is soft to hold, prevents bacteria, and provides good grips. On top of that, you also get the best screen protection that I have seen yet on a silicone case. However, while the clear plastic screen is a good idea, it just adds clutter to the case and I can see it becoming easily lost by falling off.
