Apple.ca iPhone 4 Orders Have Started Shipping

While waiting in line overnight for the iPhone 4 on launch day, Apple.ca quietly updated their website to allow the option to order unlocked iPhone models for Canadians. The only downside? Orders would start shipping in three (long) weeks!

Apple iPhone 4 Orders Have Started Shipping in Canada

Just like the Apple iPhone 4 Case Program, Bumpers have already shipped and have arrived earlier than expected. This has also applied to the iPhone 4. Given the extreme shortage at the moment, it looks like ordering online for an unlocked unit is probably your best bet for securing yourself an iPhone 4.

Update: I called Apple Customer service yesterday to find out of there was an update since people have started getting their cases. It was around 2-3pm at the time and the CSR said its still scheduled to ship on Sept 27th!! He didnt know about ppl getting the cases either.

Afew hours later I checked online again and the status had changed to: “Prepared for Shipment”. So i guess i will get it in mail in a couple of days now. FYI the new update still shows the shipoment date to be Sept 27th.

I will be back with another update once i get an official email that it has been shipped.

@ Neal: if you call apple and complain then i think they will either mail you a microSIM from the carrier of your choice or they will reimburse you for purchasing it. I know apple is not a cheap company so $10 for the microSIM wont break their backs.

Let us know if this works out though.

Ordered 28/7/10, arrived 20/8/10
4.0.2 already installed…bummer.
Went to a local Rogers store and told him I needed a new microsim.
He gave me one free, a very nice fellow, indeed and was about to upgrade from my regular sim on my 3GS. Couldn’t wait.
This evening did it all on line. No problems. Works fine but can’t jailbreak.
Tried to downgrade to 4.0.1 but didn’t work.
Oh well…

ello omer i am shaheryar i just wana know i ordered my iphone4 18th of august they said they shippd on 9th and delvrd on 16 i have to leave canada on 13th is there any chance that i can have my both cells before 13 or on 13 realy appreciate u if u share ur experience

Not false advertising, but not right either. Considering that Telus support has told me five times that they are not allowed to (‘by Apple’” according to them, to take waiting lists, pre-orders, or money down. It is supposed to be first come, first serve. When I phoned Apple support after giving in and ordering my phone (Ordered, Aug 19, arrival date: Spet 9th) they also said that all phones were supposed to be on a first come, first serve basis. Now 50$ deposit? For a chance to get a phone when? According to the telus stores in my area, there haven’t been any in house since the launch….at least on Vancouver island

I have a question – I bought my iphone4 from apple.ca and received it on Friday. I activated it in itunes using my Rogers SIM card (cut it down to microsim size). Can anyone confirm that by doing it this way that the phone is still unlocked?

I can’t confirm as I haven’t done this yet, but I can’t imagine that using an old Rogers SIM card would lock your phone. Of course, while you are using the Rogers SIM card, you can only use the Rogers network. If you wanted to switch carriers, you would have to switch SIM cards.

i opted for the expedited but when i was billed it was not charged although on my order it still shows expedited and looking at the tracking info it seems to be travelling expedited considering it shipped friday and now is saying released for delivery as of monday 450AM eastern time.. anyone else get free expedited shipping?

update: Shipping status changed to “Shipped” on Saturday night and UPS tracking number updated. Apple sent an email confirmation that it has been shipped. The tracking number still shows as being invalid on UPS website. I am hoping to get it in a couple of days. At this time I am not sure if its coming from within north America or China.

I will be back with another update on this when available.

Cant wait to get my iphone 4 in the Speck PixelSkin HD case!

So according to FedEx, my phones were supposed to arrive 5mins ago. I just called FedEx because the last information shown was from Friday/Saturday showing that they were released for delivery from Missausaga and there is no information on either (they shipped separately for some reason… i wasn’t being selfish ordering 2, one’s for my boyfriend)tracking number saying that they actually arrived into Vancouver. She said that it is possible for them to get missed on the scanning and still get loaded and sent out for delivery but she’d still file a claim and call me back to see if they could be tracked down.

Anyone else experience anything like this? I’m hoping they just missed scanning and they are on way (I also paid express shipping) but I’m very worried someone stole them as I have heard that has happened a few times…

Just got my new unlocked 32 gb iPhone 4 from FedEx and I’m quite excited. For anybody ordering from Apple online I think you should know that unless you already have a SIM card from a carrier, you will NOT be able to activate your phone and it will be useless until you do. So the moral of this story is to get that SIM ASAP!

I’m in Vancouver and I received mine this morning (I paid for 2-3day shipping). I think the fedex tracking system is messed up. It says it was scanned in Calgary and then 17min later it was scanned in Vancouver. If you haven’t already, use the Yahoo Fedex tracker, it shows information that is filtered out on the official fedex tracker.

Can someone please tell me why so many new iphone owners prefer to have the older iOS version 4.0.1 or 4.0 on it? I have the original 4.0 on my phone and i never accepted the firmware upgrade. Picked mine up on launch date 07/30/10.

Im just curious to know b/c if there is something wrong or if there is a disadvantage of having the 4.0.2 version then i wont upgrade.

Good advice! Also, Apple stores have micro-sims for each carrier and will give it to you free, just picked mine up and am still waiting for my iPhone 4. Not sure about other carriers, but Rogers is charging $11.

got mine today (Monday, 23 August at 10 am). 3 days later than estimated when shipped – or 4 days earlier than when I ordered it (30 July) – depending on your perspective.

Thanks. I also paid the express shipping fee…. Yea FedEx’s site only showed up to departing Memphis. Yahoo only showed them being released for delivery Saturday Morning out of Missisauga. I got worried because 1030am today had rolled around (that’s when they said it’d be delivered by) and nothing and still no update on it’s whereabouts. Called FedEx who said they’d get back to me because they didn’t know… Just talked to another guy from there and he couldn’t give me a reason (I called again because it no longer even showed a delivery date) but he said they are now coming by tomorrow morning 10:30…. I guess I’ll have to wait & see. But I wasted my day off waiting for it and now I won’t see it til tomorrow night… Hopefully!

For some people in BC waiting for their phones today: According to FedEx there was a problem with an aircraft so some are delayed an extra day.

You cannot downgrade unless you have the SHSH blobs on file with Saruik’s auth. server. Unless you previously jailbroke on 4.0 or 4.0.1 you CANNOT roll back.

I can confirm that you can get a micro sim card from the apple retail stores for free. I just went to the location at Oakridge mall and received one for Fido w/o having to show a receipt. Fido’s website is down right now so I had to use the micro sim cutter I bought on ebay before hand on my old sim. Also, mine came with 4.0.2.

Hi,

I ordered the Speck PixelSkin HD case fro the free case program for iphone 4. I placed my order on July 30th (Launch Date).

I got an email from apple on Sunday Morning 08/22 that it has been shipped along with UPS tracking number and expected delivery by Aug 24th (Today).

However UPS did not have any record of that tracking number in their system till 9pm yesterday and even now it only says they have recieved billing info. I doubt ill be recieving the case today.

Does anyone else know how long it takes from this point to recieve the case from UPS? I call the apple store last night and they said its coming from US. can anyone please verify this? i thought all shipments were coming from Cina or is it only Fedex shipments that are coming from China?

Please help.

Update: it just got delivered by UPS at my home in Brampton, ON.

I cant wait ti get my hands on this bad boy. Less than 4 weeks is not so bad since the original timefame was over 8 weeks!

hello guys i av ordered two 16 gigx on differnet date 1 on 18th of august 2nd on 19th second one included exp shipping now one is going to ship on 9th and second one going to ship on 10th and delivery date are the same 16th of september now the big big problem is i have to leave canada for 1 year on 13th is there any possibilties that i can get those phone on 13th or should i cancel my order plz help me
